The MT82 6-speed gearbox fitted to the 2.2 and 2.4 TDCi engines is prone to spline wear on the rear output shaft, which can cause a complete loss of drive. This issue is similar to the wear seen on earlier LT77 and R380 main shaft splines within the transfer case input gear. The spline ‘frets’ due to lack of lubrication, resulting in failure.

Our innovative solution addresses this issue:

• New coupling (like LR030054) with spark-eroded slits to allow oil flow
• Modified male/male coupling shaft (like TUD500020) to ensure proper fit and durability
• Machined threads and O-ring grooves for improved sealing and lubrication
• Oil-leak prevention: We introduce a system that keeps the spline interface wet with oil, stopping wear before it begins.

Additional features:

• Ground diameter on the new shaft to ensure proper sealing on the transfer case input seals
• New alloy part with O-rings that slide over the shaft to seal both the inner and outer coupling O-rings
• Tube spanner supplied for easy installation

Note: The new LR030054 coupling does not have the cut-outs for the Land Rover holding tool, so you’ll need to lock the shaft using 5th gear or use an impact gun for fitment.
